Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to hard work and resilience. Despite facing significant health challenges, I remained committed to my goals—earning my college degree and securing a strong position in the workforce. I’m proud of how far I’ve come, and now I’m focused on taking the next step in my career by leveraging both my sales experience, customer service, and paralegal certification to pursue new, fulfilling opportunities.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is to always work hard and never give up—no matter how difficult things may get. Persistence, even through challenges, has helped me grow both personally and professionally, and it's a mindset I carry with me in everything I do. I always enjoy proving people wrong. If I am told I cannot do something, it drives me to do more. I even went so far as to learn American Sign Language just because I was told it wasn't possible!

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

The advice I would give to young women entering this industry is to stay in school, prioritize your health, and never stop learning. Taking care of your body and mind is just as important as advancing your education. Keep growing, stay curious, and invest in yourself—you are your greatest asset.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

It is my ultimate goal to make quality health insurance available to individuals struggling from life threatening mental illness and addiction. Right now, Americans young and old need their insurance to cover long-term, holistic treatment for eating disorders, alcoholism, drug addiction, and other mental health challenges. I want to change that. The lives of thousands, maybe millions, of people are at stake. It is also a dream of mind to one day see Medicare offer Chronic Special Needs plans for members Alzheimer's. I have 3 close relatives suffering from that, and taking care of them requires more financial resources than are currently available.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are health and self-care. I believe taking care of my body and mind is essential because without good health, it’s hard to achieve anything else. Outside of work, I also find great fulfillment in creative expression—I write poetry and was proud to have my book "Demons and Angels: A Poetic Account of Darkness and Light" published in 2017. That creative outlet keeps me balanced and inspired. I believe in being well-rounded, using logic and creativity in every employment experience I have, and all over aspects of my life.
